The Best Espresso Martini With Baileys

Last month I turned 21, and with that I decided I needed a signature drink, because WHY NOT?!?!?

I love coffee so I decided to try an espresso martini. To my surprise, I despised it! It was so bitter, and there was no sweetness to the drink. I went to the drawing board and decided to try to make a latte martini instead. 

I tapped into my Irish roots and played around with Baileys and Kahlua until I got the perfect mix, which my partner told me to call “Cup of Joey” *Pause for laughter

I have made this recipe for my partner, friends, uncles, aunts, cousins, and parents, who all seemed to absolutely love it. Each time I made the cocktail I adjusted the mixture and ultimately took out simple syrup, as I am not a huge fan of it in drinks.

The recipe is super simple and only needs 4 ingredients and Ice!

  • 1 oz Vodka

  • 1 oz Kahlua

  • 1 oz Espresso (chilled)

  • 2 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream

  • Ice

  • Equipment
  • Cocktail Shaker

  • Dual Sided Jigger

  • Serving glass

  • Optional Garnishes
  • Whipped Cream (Whip Shots if you’re feeling fancy)

  • Espresso Beans

  • Caramel Sauce


  • Start by adding ice cubes to your shaker
  • Add the vodka, Kahlua, Espresso, and Bailey’s to the shaker
  • Give the shaker a solid shake (singing is optional)
  • Add large ice cube to serving glass
  • Pour cocktail from the shaker over the ice in your serving glass (Adding any garnishes that you desire)
  • Enjoy your new favorite cocktail!!!


  • For a less bitter drink, try blonde roast espresso
